Ted Sykes joins eWaterways as an Investor and becomes CEO for North American market

02 December, 2010

eWaterways, the leading online small ship cruise aggregator, is delighted to announce that Ted Sykes has become an Investor in the firm and will serve as CEO for the North American market.

Ted has spent the last 20 years at the helm of both river and ocean cruise firms, most recently serving as CFO for Viking River Cruises. Previously Ted held roles as COO for the Vantage Group, Managing Director in the UK for Saga Shipping (establishing the Saga cruise segment) and Managing Director and CFO of the luxurious Royal Cruise Line.

Ted comments "I see in eWaterways the potential to become one of the leading firms operating in this market with their ideal web platform allowing consumers to choose from a rich variety of small cruise ships, river vessels, sailing and motor yachts, luxury hotel barges and expedition ships. The expertise of the eWaterways team and the extensive product offering make it a compelling proposition. Coupled with the fact that the products exist on a single booking platform, means that it will attract both Travel agents and consumers alike.

Daniela Wagner, CEO of eWaterways added "We are absolutely delighted that Ted has joined us.  His depth of experience and standing in the North American market will serve our company well. We are confident that with him at the helm we will see significant growth in the US, which we believe is the perfect and most substantial market for this product. eWaterways plugs a serious gap in the market by offering worldwide small niche cruises in fantastic locations, on one website."

eWaterways has over 1,000 vessels on its website and offers a variety of 'small ship' cruises; including river cruise ships, hotel barge trips, expedition voyages, coastal cruises and sailing and yachting journeys.  The collection of vessels range from between six and 150 cabins and operate in destinations all over the world including major European rivers from the North Sea to the Black Sea, the dramatic fjords of Scandinavia, the scenic coast of Croatia, relaxing inland canal vacations, expedition cruises around the Galapagos Islands, the Amazon and the polar regions of the Arctic and Antarctic, as well as luxury yachting in Fiji, the Bahamas or the Cayman Islands.
