Austral

Remote Islands of the Atlantic with National Geographic

**SPECIAL OFFER** Save up to 30% on full prices. The earlier you book the better the discount available. Please call for latest special offers. Pricing shown here reflects full brochure price only. The state-of-the-art mega-yacht, L’Austral launched in May 2011, bringing a unique blend of luxury, intimacy and well-being to small ship cruising. With just 132 cabins, L’Austral’s sleek design and small size means she can offer exclusive itineraries featuring ports of call that are inaccessible to larger ships. The yacht’s distinctive shape features smooth contours and large, arched windows, opening up to the sea and letting in the light. Precious materials in soothing neutral tones are brought to life with splashes of colour to create a discreet elegance reminiscent of a private yacht.

Embark

Embark the ship in Recife.

Day 1: Recife

Board L'Austral in Recife. You will have time to explore your cabin and new surroundings. Later you will join fellow guests for the captains first dinner, drinks and evening entertainment.

Days 2-4: Fernando de Noronha

Spend three days visiting Fernando de Noronha the main island in the archipelago of the same name which lies off Brazil's north-east coast. Its pristine natural environment has given it UNESCO World Natural Heritage status. In Dolphins Bay, spinner dolphins cavort in pristine waters against a backdrop of luxuriant green hills.

Day 5: Crossing the equator

Crossing the equator is a baptism, a maritime tradition that Ponant perpetuates with humour. The Captain and officers of your ship will choose some neophyte passengers and crew members, who will be submitted to the good-natured “trials’ of the passing of the line. As you change hemispheres, you will attend a ceremony organised in a fun and festive atmosphere: with white togas, Neptune’s trident and fancy dress on the agenda. An unforgettable moment of conviviality between passengers and crew, under the aegis of Neptune, God of the Seas!

Days 6-8: At Sea

Spend three days at sea as the ship sails to Bissau-Guinean archipelago of Bissagos.

Day 9: Maio - Ampincha, Bijagos

Arrive at the Bissau-Guinean archipelago of Bissagos located some 20 kilometres off the west African coast and famous for its abundant biodiversity. The richness of its marine animal and plant life afforded it the status of Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. Of the 88 islets and islands in the archipelago, only 23 are inhabited. At Maio, still called Chediã, you can meet the Bissagos people and get to know their ancestral ways and customs. You wil also visit Ampincha, a village in the Carache island with strong traditions.

Day 10: Caravela Island

The second stop of the Bijagos Islands is Caravela Island, where you’ll discover how locals really live. Be impressed by the magnificent landscapes and the exuberant wild nature of this island.

Day 11: Laterite Beach, Bijagos

Spend the day relaxing on this beautiful quiet beach lapped by turquoise waters, golden sand and palm trees.

Day 12: Dakar

Your exotic voyage ends in Dakar, Senegal's richly diverse and colourful capital. Disembark the ship.
