Croatian Coastal Cruises (Category A Ships)

Dalmatian Island Hopping Cruise - Split to Split (8 Days)

The Croatian Coastal Cruise Fleet offers enjoyable and enlightening cruises around the glittering Dalmatian coast. The fleet comprises four different categories of ship; the very basic Category B ships, the renovated Category A vessels, the Category A+ boats, which offer a higher degree of comfort and service and lastly the Deluxe ships which offer luxurious cabins and public spaces combined with a high level of service. Category A ships are generally larger than those in the lower category and offer bunk-bedded cabins with private shower and WC. Most of the cruisers in this category are newly renovated and offer comfortable lounges, dining areas and of course a large sun deck where you can relax, sunbathe and take in the sights of this most scenic of coastlines.

Embark at Split Harbour at 11.00hrs.

Day 1: Split - Makarska

Depart from Split Harbour at lunch time. After lunch on board sail along the Dalmatian coast down to the Makarska Riviera. Spend the afternoon swimming in the clear waters off one of the most beautiful beaches in the Croatian Riviera. If you are feeling energetic you may wish to join the white water rafting excursion on the Cetina river and meet up with the ship later, in Makarska. Overnight in the port of Makarska, one of the most attractive resorts on the Croatian coast. Take a stroll along the streets of Makarska, where you will come across numerous churches and stunning examples of architecture.

Day 2: Makarska – Mljet

Depart early this morning and head towards Mljet, calling at the Peljesac Peninsula for a refreshing swim. The whole afternoon is free to explore the salt lakes in Mljet National Park and enjoy the sun and sea on this peaceful island. You may wish to visit the old abbey and church, in the middle of a large lake, within the National Park. Alternatively, you can choose to hire a small boat to roam around the National Park on your own. Overnight in Port Polaca/Pomena.

Day 3: Mljet – Dubrovnik

After breakfast depart for Dubrovnik, the highlight of this cruise. En route there will be time for a short swim. Enjoy some beautiful sights along the way to the place best described as “heaven on earth”, according to the famous writer George Bernard Shaw. Arrive in Dubrovnik in the afternoon and enjoy some free time or join a guided tour of Dubrovnik with an English speaking guide. Take a walk through Stradun, a promenade inside the city walls. For the more energetic visitors, a walk along the top of the 1,940 metre long city walls is highly recommended. Overnight in the port.

Day 4: Dubrovnik – Sipan/Trstenik

Late morning leave the magnificent city of Dubrovnik and continue your cruise towards the isle of Sipan or the pretty little town of Trstenik on the Peljesac Peninsula, where you can swim during the afternoon and spend the night. There will be the possibility of visiting a local winery and enjoying a Captain’s dinner on board in the evening.

Day 5: Sipan/Trstenik – Korcula

After breakfast depart for Korcula, the birthplace of Marco Polo. Lunch will be served back on board in front of Lumbarda, which is part of Korcula. Arrive in Korcula Port late afternoon, where the ship will remain moored overnight. On this island you will learn about the local myths and legends and can absorb the stunning architecture of the buildings.

Day 6: Korcula - Hvar

Early in the morning you will depart for the Pakleni Islands, where you will have lunch and time for some swimming, followed by optional afternoon sightseeing of Hvar, the longest island in the Adriatic. Here you can find the Renaissance cathedral with its original tower still intact. Hvar is also home to the oldest community theatre in Europe, founded here in 1612. There are many entertainment options, along with some good restaurants and cosmopolitan bars and cafes that are open long into the night.

Day 7: Hvar (Bol) - Split

The next stop will be the island of Brac. Swimming is planned at one of the most famous beaches in Dalmatia – Zlatni Rat. This is situated close to Bol, known as the Golden Cape. Bol is a typical fisherman’s town which has turned into a popular tourist destination. After lunch you will commence your journey back to Split where the last overnight stay is planned. On the way to Split there will be another break for swimming in one of the many bays off the island of Brac. As you arrive into Split Port in the late afternoon, savour the stunning view of the Split Riviera from the deck of the boat. You may wish to join a guided tour of Split, or spend some free time exploring on your own. Split is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is rich in Roman architecture - the Diocletian Palace is simply stunning.
