Day 2: St Petersburg
Begin the day with a drive out to Tsar's Village for a specially arranged tour of Catherine's Palace. Visit the exquisitely restored Amber Room and take a stroll through the formal gardens. Enjoy lunch in a restaurant in a traditional Russian log house before visiting the neo-classical palace at Povlovsk. In the evening, board a small river boat for a cruise around the numerous rivers and canals of St Petersburg.

Day 3: St Petersburg
This morning you will be taken to visit the Hermitage Museum before the public opening times, avoiding the heavy crowds.This is one of the world's greatest museums, containing no less than four hundred rooms full of exquisite works of art, including a fabulous collection by the French Impressionists. You will also get to visit the Gold Rooms of the Hermitage, which are closed to the general public, to see the amazing collection of Scythian gold and tsarist jewellery. In the afternoon, tour the magnificent Yusapov Palace, once the residence of the wealthiest and most respected family in Imperial Russia, which saw one of the most dramatic episodes in Russian history, the murder of Rasputin.

Day 4: St Petersburg
Today you will enjoy an excursion to Peterhof, known as the 'Versailles of Russia'. Visit authentic Bath Cottage and the vast Lower Park with its 176 fountains and four cascades before returning to St Petersburg by hydrofoil. Continue with an orientation tour of the city, visiting the Peter and Paul Fortress and St Isaac's Cathedral before transferring to the Volga Dream. Here you are invited to participate in a traditional bread, salt and vodka Welcome Aboard Ceremony before your first dinner on board.

Day 5: Mandrogi
Spend a relaxing day cruising along the Svir River with its densely forested banks and small settlements. In the afternoon the ship docks at the picturesque wooden village of Mandrogi where you can enjoy a brief experience of daily life in this unique settlement.

Day 6: Kizhi
Enjoy the scenery today as the Volga Dream cruises across beautiful Lake Onega. You will arrive on the tiny island of Kizhi for a tour which will take you into the open air Museum of Architecture and the Church of the Transfiguration, the ultimate in Russian fairytale architecture. Tonight there will be an onboard piano concert featuring pieces by Tchaikovsky and Rakhmaninov.

Day 7: Goritsy
Today you will cruise the White Lake, once known as the “Tsar’s fishing grounds” before mooring in Goritsy. Take a tour of the Kirillov Belozersky Monastery, founded in 1397. The monastery contains the 13th-century Cathedral of the Assumption, which is famous for its superb frescoes. A late lunch will be served on board the Volga Dream. Tonight you will enjoy a traditional Russian dinner and vodka tasting on the ship.

Day 8: Yaroslavl
The oldest city on the Volga River, Yaroslavl has many churches dating from the 13th to 17th centuries, including the Savior Transfiguration Monastery and 17th century Church of Elijah the Prophet with frescoes painted by renowned artists of ancient Russia. Participate in a costumed reception at the Governor's House before re-boarding the Volga Dream in time for lunch.

Day 9: Uglich
Today’s port of call is one of Russia’s most beloved towns, Uglich. Here you will visit the Church of St Dmitry and the five-domed Church of the Transfiguration, noted for its beautiful iconostasis. Enjoy a concert of choral music in Uglich before boarding the ship to continue your journey.

Day 10: Moscow
The Volga Dream arrives into Moscow during the late morning. Here you will disembark and enjoy a half day guided tour of Moscow, including a visit to the Kremlin to see the Assumption and Archangel Cathedrals and the Armoury Museum, which dates back to 1485. View the ornate gems of the Diamond Fund, including Catherine the Great's diamond-encrusted coronation crown and the 190 carat Orlov diamond. After lunch, visit an authentic Cold War bunker before transferring to your hotel.

Day 11: Moscow
This morning, take an orientation tour of Moscow with a ride on Moscow’s famous metro. After lunch in a local restaurant, the afternoon will be spent at the world-famous Tretyakov Art Gallery which houses the largest collection of Russian art, from early icons to Russian avant-garde works.
